About pundits

As afriend of mine, a wise, elderly historian, has said:

“Only in America, can someone become a famous journalist and a pundit despite how most of his predictions turn out to be wrong.”

Hmmmm.

“It is undeniable that China is shaking the world! China is a rising power!”

Xixi. It’s alright to be wrong as long as you can explain what wronged you – at hindsight.

  2. Ned Kelly says:

The American charlatan Thomas Friedman (NY Times) has been wrong about just about everything, but every time he f—s up he spins it as if his f—up had enabled him to learn something new before anyone else did.

Yes, that’s sort of what I mean (though I didn’t know you were targeting Mr Friedman). Smart marketing policy. I don’t like him either, but the public is asking for his kind, and not only in America, really. But even solid expertise may get things wrong, at least once in a while.

  4. Ned Kelly says:

I’m not targeting Friedman in particular, but media and advertising whores in general.

  5. Jason Lee says:

China is shaking the world in many ways, but it has tremendous problems and limitations too, which the more enthusiastic pundits seem to forget.
