Will Monty Python recruit the next Olympic Torch-bearing “martyr”?

It’s time once again for some comic relief.

In view of the Beijing Olympics’ public relations farce of choosing a disabled woman, Jin Jing,  to carry the torch and then to represent her as a willing martyr, I wonder if the next torch-bearer will be chosen by the Monty Python comedy troupe?

Evidently Beijing’s Western agency for the “public relations” of the torch took lessons from Mr Ron Obvious’ PR agent, Luigi, both of whom appear in this clip.   Jump past the first 30 seconds for the sketch to begin.

  1. Adriana says:

Yeah, Ron Obvious can set a record for carrying the torch before meeting demonstrators. That, or carrying it to Mercury.

I have to apologize for the Argentines, who behaved inappropiately by cheering at the torch when it passed through Buenos Aires.

  2. Ned Kelly says:

Adriana, I guess the Argentines have just become benumbed from harbouring so many fascists over the past 60 years or so. But it’s good of you to apologize on behalf of Argentina’s conscience. That’s a lot better than what some American PR agents in Beiijng are doing, making apologetics for this globe-trotting farce.
